Description

When the ARB Simpson III replaced the previous version II, the clear change in shape could be seen immediately. The III looks a bit smaller on the outside, but in fact a larger interior volume and a significantly better sense of space was achieved. ARB achieved this by placing the entrance area, which was previously inclined inwards, upright.
Especially when moving in the tent and for those who like it spacious an advantage.
At the same time, they eliminated the long, flat side of the roof and thus the annoying water pockets that formed on it.

As always, it's the details that count!
Venting flaps that can be opened over the side windows ensure a pleasant room climate. Small cuffs on the extendable frame of the entrance protect against mosquitoes. Each window also has a mosquito net, which is attached to the outside of the opaque outer material. If you open the side opaque elements a third for additional ventilation, due to the roofing, nobody can look into the tent from almost any angle. If you leave the mosquito net, which can be opened separately, nothing stands in the way of a good night's sleep, even on hot summer nights.
Not all roof tent owners are mountaineers. Two loops therefore facilitate the transition from the ladder through the entrance to the inside of the tent. They provide support at the right moment.
The tent material itself is Australian. Translated: more is more. In this case, that's a good thing, because it is extremely insensitive to damage and, for example, flying sparks. (Not indestructible)
The cover attached above protects against heavy rain and against heating up in summer and can be stretched afterwards. The air layer in between contributes
to the good climate inside.
For us, this is also an advantage that should not be despised: The aluminum sandwich construction of the base plate is robust, does not warp and smells neutral from the start. The same can be said of the tent fabric. We have also tested tents that first had to air out for 2 days when they were unpacked. This is not an issue with the Simpson III.
